Drovio app¶
Once Drovio Server is deployed and configured, install the Drovio app on end-user machines and point it to your server.
Install the app¶
The app is available from the download page, and from the package managers below, which also suit deploying it to many machines.
Download the disk image, or install it with Homebrew:
Download the installer, or install it with winget:
or with Chocolatey, from an administrator shell:
The installer installs Drovio for all users and needs administrator rights. To
install it without any prompt, from a deployment tool for instance, run it with
/S:
Download the .deb, .rpm or Arch Linux package for your architecture,
x86-64 or ARM64, from the download page.
Keep Drovio Server up to date
The package managers and the download page always install the latest Drovio app release. Make sure your Drovio Server setup is kept up to date to support the latest Drovio app releases.
To install an earlier version of the app, pass --version to winget or
Chocolatey, or download it from the
Drovio repository.
Connect the app to your server¶
- On macOS, you will need to give Drovio permission to control your computer (needed so Drovio can sync inputs from all attendees with yours, so they can type on your screen). Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Set the server the app connects to: click the cog icon in the upper-right of the main interface.
- Click Preferences, go to the Network tab and change the URL value to your Drovio Server IP or domain.
- Restart the app: you should then be able to sign in.
macOS permissions
If you can't type on a remote screen when using Drovio for macOS, it's because Drovio needs permission to control your computer. Check that you have allowed the app in your system's Privacy preferences. See why we need permissions on macOS and how to grant them.
